Default Questions concerning b16

Well, here goes. My friend had a b16 setup in his car, and decided to go b20 and use his b16 head, He is now selling his block. Now here goes the concerns. Now the questions are:
1. Would it be good if i buy it for 275?
2. How can i tell if it is from a 99-00( i need to know because i live in cali)
3. If it is a 99-00 engine, would it be legal for me to put a obd2a gsr head, or would i be forced to get a obd2b si head ( i have a 96 btw)

I'm hoping that i can swap in a gsr head considering it will increase the compression, can keep my harness, and i cheaper. Also, i would need a b16 tranny right, because of the other b-series transmission being geared too high.

Thanks in advance guys.

Also, i should use an obd2a p72 ecu right?

Default

a couple things wrong with that....

b16s have higher compression than b18c1s...
b16s heads flow better than b18.
b16 gears are also short I think shorter than a gsrs, or high if you are thinking the same way as me.. short/high going 60 mph= 3k rpm, low/long going 60 mph=2k rpm.

If I were you Id just either buy a full b18c or buy a full b16.

hope I helped
