Question on trans fluid needed (searched)
How many quarts of trans fluid do i need for my 1997 Civic EX.
(The manual says it takes 1.9 quarts)
==> I want to drain the fluid and fill in with the new fluid.
So I bought 2 quarts but im getting the impression that I will need more.
Thanks.

or if you don't want to mess with a long *** hose and waiting for the fluid to start dripping out, you can remove your vehicle speed sensor [look for a black rubber boot around a sensor about the size of a quarter and sticking up bout 1.5 in] and pour your fluid through there.

Well I have 2 quarts of MTF so what do you guys recommend
i do? Also, I was told that after I change the trans fluid it wont
really smooth shifts out that much unless i was shifting w/o any
fluid in the trans previously.

Jack your car up a few inches from the passenger side.
Get a can (enough for 2 quarts) and drain the fluid. (It's a 3/8 plug. Use a 3/8 ratchet and break it loose).
Drain fluid into the can. Replace bolt.
Remove fill bolt (17mm bolt). You'll see it next to where the axle enters the transmission.
Get at least a 16" hose and connect it to a funnel.
Stick hose down the fill hole. You'll feel resistance after about an inch or 2. It's ok. Leave it all the way in there.
Pour new fluid in. Once you are about to finish the 2nd quart, you'll see fluid dribble out of the fill hole. It's full.
Tighten the fill bolt again and go for a drive.
Have a nice day.

Re: Question on trans fluid needed (jok)
Ok thanks for the help but one last thing i dont get.
What I gather from these replies is that some people
are saying you fill it from the TOP of the trans and some
people are saying you fill it from teh BOTTOM of the trans.
So which is it?

I don't know who is telling you to fill it from the bottm but if you sit and think about it for a sec, that wouldn't really be possible. If you try to fill from the bottom it would just leak right out.
