Question for swapped hatch owners living at home
of those of you that have your motors swapped, and live at home, do any of your parents still think that you have a stock hatchback for the fun of it?
i ask this because my friend has been into hatches for a while now, and has gotten motor swaps, intakes, exhausts, and all that good stuff, and his parents still think hes driving a stock car around. when he said he wanted to sell it, they told him that nobody would pay money for a hatchback... lol. so yeah, anybody experiencing this?

My old D15z was a oild buring pig so i told him i had to fix it, i got a new motor and told him it was a 1.8L from a acura and that it bolted righ in (for him not to flip i also had a fake bill made for 500 bucks). I forgot to mention the 180hp.........but then again he's not stupid....he had a nova with a 440 so somthing like that when he was 25...so i think we talk the same language....

Re: Question for swapped hatch owners living at home (kamjah)
My parents know that i have a swap motor. They hate that i keep on throwing money into my car.
They just want me to buy a car that's not a honda and i won't have to worry about it getting stolen every second it's out of my sight.
Thinking of getting an audi tt. They approve of that car. Yum 6-speed.

Eh... I talk to my parents about stuff I do, don't know about you guys.
(I pay for all my stuff, so maybe that has something to do with it?

If i still lived at home, i wouldn't put my money into my car. I would invest in a house, or a place of my own, and buy some other stuff. But that is just me!

I don't have a swap, but my dad sees a turbo kit in my garage when he doesn't see that kit in the garage he'll have two guesses as to where it is, and my dad isn't dumb

That would be fantastic. Then you could pick up ALL the guys you want. I'd wager it's hard to get your salad road-tossed over a shifter though.
Of course, I don't know that you're male, so that comment could be completely uncalled for .

Re: Question for swapped hatch owners living at home (kamjah)
i waited until my dad went out of town for a month cause my mom doesn't care. my car was automatic and i just told him i had a tranny swap. of course he doesn't know about the ls and how much money went into it. my parents also didn't know about my carbon fiber hood for a while. and they thought i painted it like that.

I'am planning on a swap, and I don't know what I'am going to do, hopefully get the motor shipped to a shop and have them do it in a day, and say I'am at the beach or something. They couldn't tell the difference though, once its in.

maybe he meant 427, or it could be a crate motor or it could be stroked to 440, he did say '440 or something'.
I dont have a swap but my dad secretly likes hondas, so he is cool with just about anything I do to it.
EDIT: most nhra bracket cars run chevy motors, regardless of make, except mopar freaks.

Re: Question for swapped hatch owners living at home (kamjah)
I recently moved back in with my parents. (sucks)
They know my passion about cars. My stepdad used to be a streetracer in MIAMI (79 celica with chevy 350 welded in) and they STILL talk ****. talking about its just supposed to get me from point A to B. even when i had 3 hondas out front, they wanted 2 of em gone. some parents are cool about it, some arent. I do what i want, if they talk ****, oh well. time to move back out, you know.
I jsut work on my car, every time they see the hood up, they assume im doing something major. even if im doing an oilchange, they still scream, 'why do you mess with that car!?' youre gonna blow it up.
yeah well...... theyre probably right about blowing it up, ive blown up 3 motors before.
DO YOUR THING, if they talk ****, MOVE OUT. that way, the swap will already be under your belt, and now you can pay finally afford that apartment.

i live at home once in awhile, between apts and what not. but when i first did a swap my dad was like hahahah your gona be fucked you can't put an acura motor in your civic, he saw the car driving two days later, and was like "holly ****", i then explained it to him, how easy it ways and he thought it was cool. he just really doesn't want me to street racing and drive crazy, which i don't
