Default Question on spinning mass (wheels) and wheel width

Ok I notice some wheels are 15x6.5 or 15x7. Does that little .5 inch do much for traction? I imagine 1 whole inch (combining both left and right) may give better cornering. But not much.

also about spinning mass. I know that 15-16 inch rims are pretty much the largest I will ever gor for my civic. One reason is they are so cheap haha. and so are the tires. but also they are lighter than 17 or 18s. Except for the extremely rare and uber expensive rims that are lighter and bigger, But aside from those rare exclusions. How damaging is spinning weight? I ask cause I got a big rear brake adapter kit for my civic. The disds are at least 2 lbs heavier. But then you figure in larger surface area for cooling and the stock caliper is moved out a bit which makes stopping a rotating mass easier.

Thanks for your input.

I would imagine that spinning mass of only a 4lb gain isn't much. I can imagine that a 20lb spinning weight would be alot worse. Besides I think 4lbs is a good compensation for better breaking.

I dont know how much cheaper 15 & 16 are compared to 17's I just bought some 17's and they are not heavy at all. I didnt weigh them but they were lighter than stocks and 650.00 with tires and lugs shipped isnt to bad either.

rim width equates into tire width.

with some tires that extra .5 inchs makes a word of difference in how the tire handels.

just out what the tire manufacturer recomends for rim width. most have a range
