Default question regarding shocks/springs installation..

hello all, recently i bought a set of kyb agx adjustable shocks with h&r sports lowering springs. I plan to install the suspension myself(not because im lazy or poor, but i want to learn something myself about suspension). Anyway, I just want to know if i should buy those bolts that everybody is talking about, does it break or get stuck? usually on the back or the front? if anyone of you install the shocks/springs yourself without breaking anything please tell me, i want to know the chances of them getting seized or break. and which bolts break easily? I dont want to end up getting an aftermarket lca and other fees. thank you for your help, will be waiting for your replys.

I've never had any problems with mine, but I live in AZ. If the car came from the midwest, the bolts probably suck.

rear suspension bolts are nightmares. i wouldn't buy them until i know how many bolts i need. they are expensive as well. good luck.

My front bolts were fine. I did the back yesterday and broke the first bolt on the LCA. Today my car is in the shop to get that bolt out. I am having them loosen the other ones, so I don't break more. It sucks, but it still beats paying someone to do the whole install. Should be 2 bolts on each side. Here is a how to for 6th gen civic:

I wouldn't pay anyone.

They'll do the same thing, pb blaster, and a prybar or air tools.

If seized bolts were your only issues that's the last thing I'd take to a shop.

Pb blaster + prybar/air tools = loosened bolt 99% of the time.

If the head snaps off there are other simple techniques for removing the bolt.

Can you explain? What do you mean by simple techniques?
I broke off the head of the bolt and a little further. They cut and drilled it out at the shop. Was there something I could have done to avoid breaking the bolt? I didn't use air tools. I used a torque wrench and pb blaster.

Simple techniques like a bolt extractor, or using a dremel to make a flathead groove in the broken bolt.

A lot of people don't let pb blaster soak in long enough. It should soak ~20 minutes, and if still no love, soak it some more.

i have another question, is 2 ton jack enough for 96 civic ex? both jack and jack stand, i saw a combo for $20. also, when i take out the bolts in the rear part, do i need pb blaster or WD-40? so the front part is ok, all i have to worry about is the rear part of the suspension? thank you.

pb blaster is a penetrating oil.

wd40 is more of a lubricant/cleaner.

pb > wd40

Either end of the suspension can be seized up. It's all exposed to the same weather. But yes, typically the rear is the most problematic.
