question on cold air intake
i got a 2000 si and im looking to buy a cold air intake anyone have suggestions on a brand and what not. i tried searching but i have found nothing that will help

the cheapest one. it's just an intake, don't spend over 100 on something that barely gives any gain.
I've used a lot of intakes and there was practically no difference between them except for slight changes in the powerband, throttle response, and noise.

but to answer your question more specifically I think if you can find an Iceman intake for OBD-2 then go with that.

All intakes are going to accomplish the same thing. There is no 'better' brand of intake, I would just suggest getting one off EBay and replacing the filter with a K&N filter.

Comptech Icebox is the only "cold air intake" that I'd ever use, because it positions the filter up high in the engine bay, instead of down behind the bumper where the risk of hydrolock is much greater.

to be honest, i'd get a short ram intake...no risk of hydrolock, and you get more VTAK MAD SOUND YO! (it's true).
i have an AEM SRI, it's great. i used to have a shitty ebay one that was ugly as hell, didnt sound as good, plus it was causing a CEL. the AEM one is great, i love it.

Yeah I would avoid the a CA intake that tucks in to your bumper. My buddy had this and on a rainy day he was pulling out of his driveway went through a puddle. He immediately shut off his engine and we checked the intake. We POURED out quite a bit of water, very scary
. He finally just went with short ram after this

You can find cold air intakes for around $60-80 (with everything) if your not going the expensive route. Try to find a two piece cold air intake so that you have the choice of running a short ram....or just get a short ram for around $50 (maybe even less).
AEM CAI= more than $150 and more than you should ever have to pay for some aluminum piping, boots, clamps, and a filter.

All it does is allow you to bring in air faster... nothing else.
Just get the pipe and K&N Air Filter. Or if you don't mind spending a little extra get the AEM SRI. Looks a bit better than just the pipe.

lemme ask one more question, y is it on websites they have specific intakes for si's and this one is ex/si and also y r some intakes for manual and some for auto. is there a difference, cause i really dnt wanna waste my money on the wrong thing.

the throtte bodies/intake manifolds are positioned differently.
Just get the 96-00 Ex/Si intake. Also don't bother with a K and N.....most of the filters are K and N style and flow and filter just as well.

The longer the tube, the deeper the sound...I have the Z6 motor for my Sol and I ******* homemade my CAI..down in the bumper and all. Home depot, $25. Looks pretty shitty, but goddamn, with that hood down, it sounds just like my friend's Injen 
Shortram? I don't like it, it's not as a deep as sound. Louder, yes, but not as deep. The VTEC changeover can be heard much better with a longer pipe. Bypass valve the CAI if you're that worried about HLing.
