question about optima battery... help
ok my optima battery died, i think cause its been sitting in my car forever.... i tried ttaking it to auto shops to charge it up and everyone keeps telling me u cant recharge optima yellow tops? wtf is this tru? i even went to pepboys and kragen autoparts to see what they would say and told me the same ****...... so how the hell can i charge this battery up? apparently it's not like a regular battery.... help me plzzz need to get car started

they can be charged. you need a gel cell charger. Once you get it charged go get it load tested to see if the battery is still good

i have always used a regulare charger, but it has to be a trickle charger. set it on 2amps, and let it charge for 3/4 hours. i've done that to my yellow top like three time cause my son leaves the lights on. i've had my battery for like 2 years now, and it's still working good.

ok thanks for the help guys, it was my first yellow top and i was shocked when they told me no they cant charge it..... i just took it to get charged at this auto shop. thanks again for ur help

Is there something that I don't understand here.
Wouldn't you be able to "jump" the car, and let the car idle to recharge the battery?

yes, but its bad for dry cells
