Question about OEM Carpet 93 Si Hatch!!
Hey everyone! I recently bought an eh3, and it was obvious to me that the carpet wasn't stock. It looked like the carpet had been taken from another car, cut, and installed in mine, but in a very shoddy fashion to say the least.
Anyway, needless to say I've been looking around to find the best price to buy an OEM carpet. Several Honda dealerships that have a decent online sales program list the stock carpet as discontinued.
--> 83302-SR3-A20ZA MAT *NH167L* (GRAPHITE BLACK) (NA USE ALT: 83302-SR3-A10ZB) . Interior color: D-BLACK
So I went ahead and ordered the recommended alternative part, but when It arrived it ended up being more of a Grey color rather than Black. I know the pic of the tag stapled on the carpet clearly labels the item for a 2 door, but the description on the website states that this carpet is the ALT replacement for ALL 5th gen hatchbacks in Graphite Black as well as coupes.
So my question is, for those of you who know what the OEM Graphite Black Carpet looks like brand new, does this look proper to you?
My biggest problem is that I payed $375 for this "OEM" Carpet, but it doesn't quite seem to fit the OEM color scheme of my car. Nor does it resemble in any way Black like the carpet should be. But I could be wrong. So anyone who knows first hand, your opinion would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise I'm just going to return the carpet and buy a black one from stockinteriors.com or something- For half the price..
I'm apologize for the funky sock, it was the first black item I found laying around that i could use as a contrast comparison.
Thanks everyone!

Whoa - it's really hard to tell with the lighting, etc. In poor lighting almost any given black will look grey, especially something textured like a carpet. I see your stankass sock is there to provide a comparison, but I still don't know if that works really well in a photograph.
Your best bet would be to compare to someone with a black interior already?
However, I do know that the carpeting in a 92 Si vs. my 94 CX was a little more washed out shade of black, so there are known differences.

So are you guys comparing the new to the old? I know the black interior carpet is a dark gray and the gray interior "light gray interior" has light gray carpet with floor mats. Yours looks like a charcoal gray instead of a flat gray.

no, we're not comparing new to old.
through the years honda changes part numbers for different reasons; new maker, different style, etc....
if you went to the dealership to buy new carpet for a eg hatch lately, they had a carpet in stock that had a different part number, in place of the old part and number.
this new part number carpet is called graphite black and is "in place" of the old black carpet for a eg hatch, HOWEVER,
it is very grey instead of black.
you know how the graphite black floor mats look grey, so does the carpet.
And I would just say all of the carpets are like that, but I've seen dark dark graphite black carpets before. atleast I think........

2X that. I bought that same carpet over a year ago and was surprised that it wasn't really black. But it looks fine with a black interior. Monkeying around with black dye is only going to waste your time and make it look like shyte.

Re: Question about OEM Carpet 93 Si Hatch!!
thanks for the pic, and for the advice
mine's at the honda dealership waiting for me to pick up. I merely just went and opened the box to see what shade of color it is, and now I'm deciding wether to go back and get my money back, or bring it home to install it.
I could have sworn when i looked at it was light grey.
I almost told them nah, I'll take my $ back, but then i started looking into dyes.
I may just rock the grey.
or buy a couple used black one's and when I get them in the mail, I'll take them up to honda and compare.
It's going to cost me $420 at honda... because I want "brand new" carpet.
And well under $100 for nice used black carpet.
I'm just afraid the used one's will be all jacked up and the fibers will look like someone ate them and puked them back out onto the floor, if you know what I mean haha.
I dunno. When my floor mats are in right now, they look grey even though they're graphite black. I wonder if my carpet is light grey if I'll even notice when i'm in the car....?

Here's my OEM carpet, graphite black, purchased 1 year ago. I have different door panels now, but this will give you an idea.

The one shot of the rear carpet was out of focus so the flash wouldn't blind the color. The carpet seems to be glossy and with the camera flash, looks like a very different color.
