Question about the extra wiring involved swapping a b16 (99-00 si) into my ej6 (99 non-vtec dx)
Just like the titles states........
I'm trying to do some research, and I Have Searched H-T but I haven't been able to find any information about swapping a b16 or GSr into my ej6.
I'm pretty sure I'd have to re-wire for vtec, but what exactly is involved? I want to eventually swap. I figure I could do it over Christmas or possibly Spring break. I just want to allow myself sometime to deal with any "hic-ups" that may arise.
I have the stock engine, d16y7 w/o vtec. If I was to swap in a b16 with vtec what wiring would I have to do?
I'm trying to save a $900 installation charge from a shop. Any help is greatly appreciated.
SEARCH ****** will be ignored

Re: Question about the extra wiring involved swapping a b16 (Jswpstdoff)
You had to wire in both parts of the vtec selenoid, need to reqire the IACV into a 2-wire system. I also believe the CFK sensor is wired differently, maybe someone else can confirm this.

why don't you just try to source a motor with a complete harness and ecu, and then eveyrthing will be plug and play. that'd be the easiest route, but may cost you a couple hundred extra dollars for the harness, but it'll be perfect, instead of stretching a d-series harness to make everything plug in.

that would be because he is putting the swap in a 99 civic 1 peice haress as oppesed to a 5th gen 2 peice harness. It is much easier just to extend the necessary wires then to pull the entire harness.

(1:37 AM 9/7/2003) salbaje: you will need to wire in knock sensor, vtec solenoid, vtec oilpressure. use your stock harness and modify that. it will make it easier
good advice
anything else.............
