Question about 96-00 Civic Ignition cylinder compatibility between different model Civics.
Ok, here's my question. Are all 96-00 Honda Civic Ignition cylinder units the same, or are they different between automatic and manual cars, and are they different between OBD2a and OBD2b?
Reason I ask: I have a 1998 Civic Ignition unit with key from an automatic car. I want to replace a broken ignition unit in a 2000 Civic that has a manual tranny, with the 98 Auto ignition unit.
I realize it's probably as simple as trying it to see, but I thought I'd ask first, to see if anyone knows for sure, before I start to rip the steering columns out of either car to remove the ignition units.
Visually, the units look identical, I guess I just need to know if the wiring pinouts for the plugs are the same.
