Purpose of this part ? Pics !
Howdy !
I was wondering is the part in RED could possibly be removed from the car. If the pic isn't clear enough, im talking about the "rubber and foam" sheet that is attached to the firewall, vertically. I have no idea what is its purpose, and i'd love to know what it is before I remove it. This aint no sick weight reduction madness, just that mine is completly wet and gave some rust love to a part of my floor/firewall. Gotta hate humidity and winters.
Also, what's the name of this part @ the dealer ? I couldn't find in on hondaautomotiveparts...my english sucks and i'd like to know the real english name, as well as the purpose.
Ideas ?
-Pat
Edited : Used JeffS pic, can be removed if wanted.

I believe it's the dashboard insulator...It looks like you have to remove the entire dash to get it out.
Have fun with that.

Well I imagine it servs several purposes. Including keeping heat from the engine bay out of the passenger compartment, keeping noise out of the compartment and soaking up water. Just kidding about the last one
It probably keeps some of the vibration down to.
I'm doubt it will cause any damage to anything if you take it out. Lots of people remove all the insulation from the inside of the car and have no problems other than a loud ride.

I took mine out too, since it was wet and musty. It just keep engine bay noises and heat out of the passenger compartment. You can get like 95% of it out without taking out the dash also.
