Default Product Warning/Complaint On STR Oil Dipsticks

Clearance issues with moving parts... Picture illustrates a gash due to improper fitament. This came out of a D16Y8 with a stock crank and Eagle H beam C-rods.

FYI

Then when you notify them, they don't return your calls/emails and tell you it is for off-road/appearance use when it states that NOWHERE on the product or website. In FACT, the website says they are manufactured as a direct OEM REPLACEMENT

There where shavings, very minimal it was mostly a "scrape".. However, I did break down the bottom end (didn't remove the pistons or rods) to inspect. No damage internally thank christ.

I'd like to know as well. My stock one works fine, but I HAVE heard of some guys having a bunch of pressure build up and shoot their stock one out.

yeah i have seen this happen before. it is not a clearence prob. it is when you shift hard the dipstick will snap forward and hit the crank. they are really only a show piece, keep the stock one. most stock stuff is best anyways. it is really wierd ****.

Maybe you should call us. What is the part number on the Dipstick? When did you purchase these parts? What logo is on the top of the dipstick?
YOu say you test fit it not running? and it hits. How did that scratch get in the bottom of the Dipstick did you start the car after you test fit it? If there was a clearance issue to begin with you could have called us. There are such things as manufacturers defects, unfortunately it happens. I could have helped you out in any way possible if I would have been contacted. We have sold several thousands of these Dipsticks, this is the first case of this happening, I have heard of. Please contact us and fill me in on the details.

I have not called yet, E-mail has been sent however. The part number on the box is DS0106R. Logo on the top is STR with the slanted square inlaid.

Test fit was done after the problem was discovered, and the engine was pulled to fully inspect. Hopefully there is something you can still do to help.

Not having a whole lot of luck on working this out with STR as a company..

Having to have pulled my engine for inpection and getting out all the metal shavings, I sent the dipstick back to STR and they say that the product is meant for "Show/Off-road use" and on the web site it clearly says " OEM replacement"

http://www.strpower.com/strdippre.htm

Then, after all the trouble of doing this, and sending the product back to them for "inspection", they offer me another dipstick????

Is that customer satisfaction?

And they won't return calls or emails....

Turbo guys:

these are great dipsticks. If you have the stock one, the rubber stopper can get so hot, it melts and MOVES when you put it back in the hole. It's happened to me.

real "great" when they interfere with moving Internals and spread metal shavings in your engine..
