Default problems at the pump

Well lately i have had problems with my car after filling up. once the car is topped off, i start the car and it like sounds like its miss firing. after like 5 starts the car starts to run fine but for some reason just lately its giving me a problem. currently running Uberdata 1.7, this is the first problem i have had since tuned back in July. anyone ever expierence this, or know what the problem could be

thanks.

Not retaining enough fuel pressure in the lines. Before you start turn the key to the ON position and let the fuel pump prime for a few seconds. This is my two cents but it should be close.

How about quit 'TOPPING' it off. It's bad medicine especially on newer cars. There are tank-vapor lines etc.

Plus the fact that you are in Chicago. Talk about COLD! If there is any water in the tank or fuel and it gets cold, it can have that effect. My old 85 Accord had massive problems when the winter came, and that is down here in Atlanta.

yeah i know i have bad compression and OCD what can i say.

seriously though thanks for all the comments. it has really only happened the last 3 times i have filled up, i thought it may have something to do with my car being almost completly on E, but i guess we will see once i fill up again.

any other suggestions

Run a bottle of sea foam through the gas tank to clean the injectors, stop topping it off, and when you start up just turn it to the on position until the CEL turns off and you hear your fuel pumps stop priming, then start it up normally.

I remember reading about this a year or so ago on here. Exact same problem. Guy's car took 3 times to start before it would run right, but then it ran fine. Always when filling up.

I guess try searching around a little bit for it, see if you can find it. I can't remember what the final result/diagnosis/outcome/consensus was.

When you first turn the car to the on position the CEL should flash...it's the ECU diagnostics.

any other suggestions </TD></TR></TABLE> If your tank is low on gas, and you pop off the cap, all the pressure can escape. When you start your car there isnt enough fuel to keep it running or to start it. So turn the key to the ON position and wait like 5 seconds and then try and start it.

my buddies prelude takes spells and sometimes the tank gets pressurized somehow. Next time it happens go the back and take off the cap and try and start it again.

You should do a search on here for symptoms caused by a main relay going bad. It sounds like yours could possibly be on the way out, but I can't say for sure. After getting your gas, turn the key to ON, like has been said. Listen for the fuel pump to prime and the main relay to click. If you don't here these sounds, it is the main relay.

By the way, a main relay will display these symptoms in either hot weather or when the cabin of the car is warm, like right after you have been running the heater. After a few minutes of sitting and cooling down the solder within the relay can reform the proper connections and the car will start/run fine.

I'm not saying that it is definitely the main relay, just that you should look into it.

no its not the main fuel relay, hes talkin about the motor just sputtering for a bit...i had problems with my relay on my DA. if it was a problem with teh relay, the car would start then die, then u have to click the ignition on and off until u hear the fuel pump whining, then its good and the car will start and stay on. i have like 6 spares just incase. when the problem first started it sucked, i'd be at the street races late at night, and when the cops came sometimes i'd sit there for like 5 min waitin for the damn relay to work again while everyone was already gone.
