Honda-tech,

I purchased an Apexi exhaust from roy dogg from HOnda-tech. I have a 99 civic EX and my friends and I finally got around to installing it, but ran into the a problem at the end of the install. Check out the pictures and tell me why it isn't straight, please!

are all the hangers hooked up?

is the cat bolted on right/evenly?

the downpipe of the head isnt bent at all is it?

was there any bends in the exhaust piping that shouldnt be there?

to many possibilities.

Wow,thats pretty fuxxored.

I suggest double checking all of your connections and the hangers. That is pretty odd..

Like Igo said...maybe its for a teg?!

Sure looks like an exhaust for an integra, I say if you can't return it back and you can't figure out a way for you to fix it, just bring it to the muffler shop and have them mandrel bend the pipe and have it angled.

you check the hangers on the exhaust?.... there are two different hanger...

just been the damn hangers till it lines up right and thats the end of it

use a smaller rubber boot on the right side of the last picture. that will pull the muffler up and over, and shoudl fix your problem. if not just bend it alittle.

even with the hangers off, it takes alot of force to move the muffler toward the correct position. we loosened all bolts hoping to have it "settle" correctly and the problem was still there.

I suggested get it cut and rewelded.... even get a more discreet muffler design

if it was for an integra, then wouldn't it be angled a little bit?

i had that same problem with my N1 on a 2000 civic EX.
i took it to a shop and asked em what i could do and they just took some crowbars and forced it. looked like they stretched the hangers to fit right. i cant offer you that suggestion since i dunno if you are well informed in the art of the crowbar.

two of my friends had problems putting there N1's on also....
hanging this exhaust may seem like a no-brainer...
but both my buddies did the same thing. I know this sounds stupid...
but make sure the piping isnt hung upside down.. on the N1, the pipe doesnt hang down from the hangers, it is held up by the hangers (if that makes sense). This exhaust should sit really snug against the body (duh I know) but people always seem to hang this exhaust upside down. try it out.

The problem I ran into when I installed my N1 was that I almost accidentally had the middle pipe (the one shaped like an S) turned the opposite way it should've been and that made it sit way off center.

Hahaha and I thought I was the only one, did the same damn thing, also put the "s pipe" on the wrong way to, might wanna check both of them...

i hear ya. i double checked that since i too have an apexi exhaust and made sure the hangers are pointing "down" and then hung.
secondly the s shape pipe would not fit properly if flipped around...

customize your hanger. is this a use system. if so, change for bent pipe and definitely go to a shop.

i got a catylitic converter welded up and the whole exhaust put on for 125 so to fix a hanger or make one bend at a normal muffler shop should be like 25-50 bucks, but if you don't want to bring it in then just start yankin on the hanger with a big *** wrench.

I have a teg but still have the same old 2.25 hks hyper on it since day 1 for the last 4 years. The exhaust came off of a 95 civic 2dr coupe like stated in the classifieds. I checked to see if the part#'s on the N-1's are the same from 92-00 for coupes.

Maybe the exhaust end is correct but the other section is flipped around the wrong way. I did sell it to you in 2 peices, might of installed it incorrectly.

Double check the install, and see if the pipes are backwards. It might just be the wrong exhaust. Exhaust problems are a pain! Good luck.

i had the same problem, then i relized i had the part that looks like an "S" on backwards. id say its that or the hangers
