problem with jdm eg9 cluster! (tachometer)
my friend just bought a jdm eg9 cluster (4-dr) from some kid around here. and when we hooked it up to his car, the rpms read 3k! that's right when we turn the car on, but when we switch back to his EX cluster, it reads 1k. we tested it when the engine was warm. i know it's not the wiring, because it works fine on his EX cluster. so basically, the JDM cluster reads 2k more then it is. it has to be the cluster, is there a way to fix this?? and i noticed that when we turn the key into the "on" position, the RPM goes up to 1.5k...from what i heard, your rpm's shouldn't even go up when it's on the "on" position right?? is this fixable??

OK so its either the tach is messed up or the needle was removed and replaced incorrectly.
Plug the ex cluster and remember your idle speed (usually 700 to 800 rpm).
Remove the cover from the EG9 cluster and pull out the needle.
Then start the car with the cluster plugged in the car and the tach should read your idle speed. Insert the needle pointing to your normal idle speed.
To know if it is working fine you may borrow a monster tach from a friend and hook it up. Stock tach are off usually around 100 to 200 rpm and that I think is normal.
Goodluck!

I dont think the needle can be replaced incorrectly, the needles movement is based on the location of the stop, so once it gets the signal it moves away from the needle rest peg.

yeah, and the weird thing is it starts to get signal when i turn the key onto the "on" position...not when i start the car..
