Default Prestigious DX badge fell off my 97 Civic

While washing my car, it detached. To regain my car's high status symbol, I must know the proper way to reattach. What adhesive should I use? Any tips from the forum badge gurus?

Would hold up to Texas heat and Houston humidity?

Much less humid than Houston.

I guess there are many types of servo tape. What did you use?

3m automotive adhesive tape. You can cut it to length, it's thin and you can cut it to be seamless. Available at any parts store

I used it on my "civic" badge when it fell off. The guerilla glue I tried first was junk.

I recently tried to get a new dealership sticker for my car but they use fancy brushed aluminum ones now, might have to have to just stencil one myself off the old one. I also wanted a cheap black dealer plate frame with silver letters but of course they are huge chrome now. New honda is not old honda

Part #7

Or truck swap with another DX model that still has the badge. Then don't wash said truck again.

What the **** is better than a stock badge? dude chill the **** out with the stupid posts alright.

Ron best I can say is to clean off the old gunk, which you already know, and use 3m double side tape, Cut it to fit the DX emblem.

I wouldn't De badge anything. I would not modify anything except to make the car more comfortable to drive and maintain. But that's just me

Why would you make your daily driver harder to live with and harder to maintain? Stock is best

When is the last time you found a non clapped out dx to buy? Never, so to me the dx emblem is part of making the car more valuable because it is original

To the original thread topic Ron was being sarcastic about the prestige of the dx emblem

Hey Ron, this 3M tape is a beast, I've used it on my car and it handles going through washes and rain and heat and you name it. Does not come off easy.

3M Super Strong Automotive Attachment Tape, double sided tape, foam tape, 3M mounting tape

That tape is currently holding the little side trim on the drivers side front fender. The piece is catching air and is still attached after going 100 MPH on the freeway (just keeping with traffic flow). The tape is really strong. That is after days of rain and a car wash or two.

As for heat, I don't see the heat making it any worse, if anything will make it tackier.

it was obvious you were being sarcastic

mocking the dx, and thus why i didn't understand why you would want to keep the dx badge.

however, this is a dumb argument and therefore i withdraw myself from it. i will not return to this thread

good day gentlemen

Your point made sense but there are two sides to a coin. The fact that you can customize a civic is what would make a factory one more desirable, the next owner has a clean slate to start with. When the next owner buys it they can make it their own but in the mean time I personally enjoy the car for what it is; cheap, reliable, and easy to maintain. Which is exactly why I won't sell mine any time soon

Thanks for the helpful input.

Has anyone tried regular rubber silicone cement?

I work for a collision shop, we retape a lot of emblems. We use Norton double sided tape or something similar to that 3M emblem glue depending one that it is. It's easy to make a mess with the glue if you don't know what you're doing so I'd suggest the tape. Use a razor blade to scrape off the old tape, apply new tape, trim it with a fresh razor blade.
