Power Steering problem... Would appreciate help.
My car has been sitting for about six hours since I last drove it. I was just working on my friends Eclipse Gs-T so I looked under my car about 3 hours ago when I was crawling around on the floor. And nothing was leaking...
PROBLEM: All of my power steering fluid leaked out of my car and into the garage. Mind you the car had been sitting close to 3 1/2 hrs before it started and I didn't notice it until I was cleaning up my tools and there was fluid running down my driveway.
What could this be? And how do I fix it. The leak is coming from the area behind the tranny. (passenger side) And I believe it's from the steering rack.
I have to drive everyday so I made a temp. fix by removing the belt, if it's expensive to fix would I be ok leaving it w/o the power steering.
Sry. I'm kinda ranting about this because it is really random and it pisses me off.

if it's leaking out of the rubber boot you might as well start looking for a new rack. if you were more descriptive it would make it easier for people to help.

basically all your fluid will keep leaking out. if it all leaked out then it couldn't be good for your rack. i guess it could last forever or break tomorrow. who knows, i would start looking for a new/used one.
