possible clutch problems??
I have a question and I. Really. Need help! I have a 2000 civic ex, its a five speed. With aprox. 190k on it. I bought it used so I duno what has been done, I've owned it for 10k. And it ran fine until recently .The problems I'm having are it has. Problems going into gears sometimes..mainly 1st and reverse...and sometimes thrid. Even sometimes when the clutch is all the way pushed in and I try reverse it will. Grind. These symptoms aren't all the time, but they are getting more frequent. Has anyone had this problem? And maybe a sure answer as to what I need to fix? Please help!!

Re: possible clutch problems??
Is the clutch pedal spongy? Is the fluid level in the reservoir low? Is there fluid leaking from above the clutch pedal?
Have you drained the transmission MTF and replaced it with fresh Honda MTF?

Bleed the clutch with fresh fluid, change the gear oil and check yer shifter bushes for wear. These are easy jobs and will eliminate some variables from the equasion. You could also check the pivot bush at the top of the clutch pedal for binding or excessive play. Also you could pull back the clutch release lever boot and make sure its making good contact with the slave cylinder pushrod
