History
BioTools, Inc. was founded in 1995 by four acclaimed University of Alberta professors. The company initially developed bioinformatics analysis software and distinguished itself through its development of robust, highly sophisticated methods for data mining, data manipulation and graphical visualization of biological information.

In 2003, Biotools diversified and began developing a poker software product called Poki’s Poker Academy. Poki was soon widely recognized as the best Limit poker product on the market and caught the eye of new investors.

In 2004, Kurt Lange became president and CEO of BioTools.
