Please Help Prove old Civics are better
Hi, my father wants to buy me a new 02 Civic LX 5 spd Coupe. I would not mind this car at all, cause I drive a 1984 Station Wagon. THe problem is that those engines suck and they are slow. I consistantly beat them with my car. I want to know the facts on why you pros would buy an older civic/integra/prelude over a new civic. He doesn't like the idea of modifying cars or anything, so I can't use that the new cars are slow. Any help would be great.

Get a 92 cx hatchback..or coupe if you dont like the hatchback..
Then pay about 3,300 for a b18c motor..(very nice addition for speed) and swap it in the eg...the eg should run you about..what 2000 for high mileage.plus 3,300 for motor. then add another 700 for installation and you have a demon for 6 thousand..with only 30Kmiles on it..and then..after that (considering you WERE Going to get a stupid ep civc) you can dominate with the left over cash....trust me..best route to go..HANDSD DOWN or if you like...ek civics are cool too!

I agree with you dohcsideSi. If it's a comparison of car for car, the new civic would be better. But if you're talking about modifications, the list can go on and on and on, on why the older civics would be better.

get a 98-00 EX coupe with low miles. They should last just as long, not go down in value AS fast, cheaper insurance, lower car payment, options for upgrading(although thats not a deciding factor). Just find a nice one, that may still be under warranty, and compare prices. Newer cars these days just seem to be built a lot cheaper than older ones, especially things like interior, on basic model cars of course.

HEy man do not get a new one unless it is a Civic SI 99-01 there alright if i was you get a 92-95 hatch for at least 4000 or less and have a motor swap done, that is what i did a 93 hatch 95 SI motor(D16Z6) swap and EX tranny. alot of people cant keep up but I have other stuff too that makes it faster (MODS). Im bout to have another motor swap Prob GSR. But Good luck plus hatch are light and whatever you do to them the are fast

those damn japanese students aren`t working as great as their teachers did... sorry about that... for the great teachers that made the 92-95 hatch and for those damn students that don `t know how to make good cars (engines as well)
go with a 92 cx with a ls/vtec all motor swap

Re: Please Help Prove old Civics are better (AmericanWagoner)
A 1992 Civic VX is little to nothing to insure. Additionally, it got nearly 50mpg when it was new. On top of that, it's cheap. It has excellent aftermarket support if anything breaks. Its maintainance costs may be even less than a brand new car.
(psst. It's also an excellent swap platform, but you don't have to tell that).
That help?
