Please help my DS get a new exhaust!
Hey everyone,
Hoping to get some good info on a new exhaust for my Del Sol. It's a 93, 1.6 D16Y6, all stock so far, and I need to replace the exhaust.
Looking for something that is NOT loud or shrill, as we drive it a lot and I don't want to listen to it! I like "throaty" sound, but not like a popcorn ft, if you know what I mean!
Also, I don't have any plans to turbo or anything ultra hi performance for a while, but want to get the best performance out of what I buy. I was told a header wouldn't do much for my engine unless I did some actual tuning, so not really looking to go that route yet either, but I might later when I rebuild the D or swap to a B.
We don't have a good shop in town who will bend pipe, so custom's kind of out, although I was told to get a S2K muffler, a Magnaflow cat and have the piping bent? Sounds like I'd like it, but not sure how to get it done.
As far as diameter goes, what's the biggest I need to get to have no restriction from it, using my stock exhaust manifold?
SO, that leaves me with the "catback" kits. I'm really open to ideas as to what's the best performing/sounding/? I do see the Skunk 2 has a baffle, but is it still pretty loud with that in?
I REALLY appreciate any comments... it's hard figuring out what to do, especially when there are no shops around (anywhere in the midwest that I can find, we're in Iowa).
