PLEASE HELP me install this seal
Hey, I've already asked several questions about why i cannot stop this leak. Finally I have found the leak, but no matter what i do i cannot stop it.
The leak is coming from the drivers side driveaxle seal. I have replaced the seal 4 times and it will not stop leaking. The area where the seal fits is NOT DAMAGED, the problem is the seal.
Every time i use a socket to install it and am careful to not drive it in to far and not damage the seal. I am also careful when im installing the axle.
Every time i start up the car it immediatly starts to leak, so i take it all apart and every time the back or the seal is torn apart. WTF.
so can someone tell me the correct way to install this seal (its common sense, but for some reason its not working, so maybe someone could give me some tips)
THANKS IN ADVANCE
also ive never had a prob with the passenger side seal

are you sure you are getting the right seal from the dealership? Are you just starting the car, or are you driving it?

Re: PLEASE HELP me install this seal (sol2hatch)
Im positive im getting the right seal, I compared the one BEFORE it was leaking to the one the gave me (i had to replace it when i replaced my axle, bad CV joint, incase your wondering why i messed with it in the first place) they give me the exact same seal each time so im sure it the right one
To answer the other question, i start it up and it doesn't leak for approx. 1 min. I go thru all the gears including reverse and by that time it is GUSHING out fluid (maybe not gushing but still comming out pretty fast)
Any suggestions
thanx

Re: PLEASE HELP me install this seal (EK k kay)
Yes i made sure the side with the spring is toward the tranny. LOL
I guess my question is really how far to drive the seal in, or not to drive in.
