ground control coils/koni yellows if you don't want to spend too much. you can always raise it up when winter comes, or just drive with no bumper thats what I do cuz one spring is locked i cant get it loose. just research different brands before buying

is everyone from philly ghetto like that?
You have to realign the car when you raise/drop it. I guess you guys must get a lot more snow in philly for it to be an issue. I used to drive in IL with my car dumped all the time. I just don't like the car dumped anymore so I have it at a "sane" height on GCs and stock shocks/Tokico blues. Rides great, looks great (IMO).
I have it at around 1-1.5 finger gap. My fingers are beautiful and slender, so if you have sausage fingers it may be less fingers for you.
I might have pics. Iduno.
OP: check the appearance/cosmetic section or look on google for pictures of lowered civics. I know how rare they are :sarcasm:, but you'll find something I'm sure.
Ask more specific questions when you have an idea of what you want.

dude I put POS rims on when it snows who cares if the tires wear unevenly once the snow is gone and you put your good rims on put it back to where it was and you don't need to realign it

Re: Planning to drop my civic N>Help
yes you do need to realign it. BUT only if you lower the car and align it that way.
When you lower the car, you get front toe out and rear toe in. When you align it, they fix all this.
Then you go and raise it back up. You get the opposite. Front toe in (not a huge deal), but rear toe OUT. Rear toe out causes oversteer and less stability.
I used to have a car that I had toed out in the back for handling purposes. When winter came around, the car would be sideways through every intersection and would randomly get squirrely if one wheel hit an ice patch or even if I was just going straight.

thats true, but it hasn't happened to me I've done it that way every winter except this one when I wasn't able to raise it back up so I just went with no bumper

well how much do you want to lower it?.
i have skunk2 coilovers with 1 adjuster removed in front and its pretty low,
i like the coilovers but they are just too stiff to ride good,
i reccomend gc/koni... its a good thing winters coming, gives you a while to save up.

First, I assume you'll ask about camber. A degree or two of negative camber isn't a bad thing
Wait until Spring. The alignment being off does more than eat tires, it makes the car handle strange, plus less ground clearance to get through snow or get it towed. Things always like to break in the winter...
The oh so popular Koni Yellow/ Ground Control combo rides nice after the springs break in and the shocks adjusted down. This WILL take a few months and a few thousand miles. Until then, they'll be a little hard. The over the counter springs are stiff enough to handle curves nice, but they are comfortable for a daily driver.
While you're under the car, consider a traction bar and rear sway bar. I just have an eBay trac bar, and I am content with it. It's actually fairly decently made. My car doesn't lean as much in turns and the wheels don't break traction as easy. The ITR rear sway bar is the thickest, cheapest one you'll likely find. I suggest buying a used one and spray painting it with kitchen appliance epoxy paint. The stuff holds up very well.

KYB makes springs? You can probably get a cheaper brand of LCAs that will do the job. I'm guessing you're getting the skunks because of the polyurethane bushings? What's wrong with your stock arms?

Re: Planning to drop my civic N>Help
Also, I would suggest to swing by a Honda dealership and grab a few LCA bolts, too. I bought two when I lowered my 99 Civic. My buddy who was with me at the time bought 4 because he knew he was going to need them eventually. A total of four bolts seized up and broke while removing the stock set-up and needed to be replaced when I removed my LCAs. All I can say is, I'm glad my friend had those extras... he sold them to me that night.

What I don't get is why you people slam your cars, when there are speed bumps and driveways... How the hell do you get up your driveway or go over a bump?

Re: Planning to drop my civic N>Help
My driveway is flat with my street. I do have a friend who always wanted a dropped car, but can't since his driveway is at a horrible angle.
Regarding speed bumps, you either have to avoid them when you can, or take them slow. I have owned two civics in the past 5 years, both slammed, you eventually get used it. Stock height is "monster-truck" looking IMO and slammed looks soooooo sexy. (especially on EG's and Ek's)

Cons of a slammed car are all in your head....much like the gains from adding a header/intake/exhaust to a stock D series. lol

Re: Planning to drop my civic N>Help
There are lots of cons.
I used to have my car like this:
It looked kinda dumb. It would have looked better with more flushed out wheels, but still...WTF...
Plus, I track my cars now. I track my S2000 and my EM1. Function is a lot of fun. I don't mind being low and getting some sort of balance between looks and function, but I won't accept any type of stupid scraping noises around hard turns or a lot of uncontrollable bumpsteer or bottoming out the shock, etc. etc.
I also find that the ride is better when the car is a bit higher. I got over the "slammed" look for the most part. It's just not me anymore.
My cars are still low:
(The Civic's about .75'' higher today).
But they both do work.
There is such a thing as a drop that works and looks good at the same time. You just have to know what you're doing.
