pictorial of the hatches existence: by request
well last winter i picked up a 92 CX for 1300 from a local guy and went to work almost immediately.
i already had this laying around since that spring b4. for ppl that dont know what it is, its a 01 ITR head.
thats the first thing i bought for the hatch.
well since i bought the car for my "drag" car the stocker just wasnt goin to cut the mustard. i had this badboy out in 1 3/4hrs and that was with shift linkage still installed because the bitch pin wouldnt come out.
then i decided that the stock civic dash just wasnt cuttin it either. so i swapped in the teg dash. fits pretty well in there, but not perfect.
then i decided to yank my GSR motor out of my 99 civic for more torque for the "drag" car. plus havin an extra 00 B16 around helps too.
so i decided it was tear down time and this was the results. rod bearing #1 lost its "tension" and was ready to spin. what luck for me. caught it in the nick of time w/o damage. thats my crank next to the enemy V8 crank, lol.
next came some more goodies in the mail. thanx to dan from godspeed (valve cover) and tomo and jeff from import builders (rods, pistons, bearings, seals)
next came assembly, which i did in my kitchen. i put the whole motor together and never done it b4. i highly recommend it to anyone, its easy and u have a true sense of accomplishment once u fire it up for the first time. initial compression #s were 295 and above on all 4 cyls.
and the end results of a good springs work. i ran best of 12.6@107 in woodburn oregon at the NHRA summit sport compact race in august. i was the fastest street legal ALL MOTOR car at the event.

Well I must say that is very impressive I picked mine up in January and don't think I've made near the "go-fast" progress you have. What kind of compression are you running?

i figured if, i actually bought the motor outright instead of already having it, i would have about 7k or a little over that TOTAL into the car including the car itself.

Damn! You have set the goals you wanted for your car, and followed it through all the way. This story really inspires me to finish up my project aswell. Good Job!

Pass some of that luck on to me
if u look at the last pic u can see the hood doesnt line up. the secret to buyin a cheap car is find one thats been "hit lightly". all we did was throw it on the frame machine a pull a bit. but total was 1300 either way. the fronts gettin chopped off anyways but for the first season is was a perfect choice. for a dirt cheap car that only needed a fender hood and bumper i still got a killer deal.
