Default Picked up a Del Sol *PICS*

Well I picked up a 1993 Del Sol today. I was looking for a beater, a car I could pay cash for and be cheap on insurance, so I could save up some money. Then I came across this Del Sol, I paid $3000, and the car runs great. Only problem i've noticed is the something with the clutch, it grabs fine and everything, but when I let it out when i'm in neutral, you can hear like a noise, it sounds like a rubbing, but its pretty light, i'll have to get that checked out. Anyways heres some pics, I'm not sure what engine is in it, don't know much about these cars, its nothing special, but i have plans for a swap in the future in this baby. Lemme know what you think.

These pics were taken in my garage at night, so the lighting isnt the best. Not bad for 3 grand i think.

its got 175k on it, which is alot, but i mean for 3 grand, and considering it runs like a champ, i have no complaints. I mean i went out looking for somethin cheap like an early 90's corolla or somethin like that for around 2 grand, and I came home with something thats actually worth keeping and can be my project car. I eventually think i'm going to do a swap with like an b18b or maybe a b18c1, we'll see. For now this is just my daily driver. I just need to get me a cd player and some new speakers, only one of the speakers work right now, and i checked that out, and the cone is in flaky chunks, lol.

I'm assuming this is the base model Del Sol? Anybody know what kinda engine this is, and maybe the hp/tq specs?

I was in tha same boat as you. I was going to find a beater to rebiuld that I could pay cash for.... but I stumbled across a 94 VTEC that only had 33K mi on it, and it had been parked since 97. It looked like a new car. l OK... I paid 7K for it... but I think it was worth it. Besides... all the beaters I found in PA were rotted out. Most of them wouldn't have passed a safty inspection.

Here's a link to a couple pics of mine.

You found a good deal.

Watch out man...I bought my del Sol as a beater and before I knew it, I had fallen in love with the car and I sold my weekend car so I could get an engine swap.

No regrets though...del Sols are really, really nice if done right.

That's one hell of a clean "beater!"

Wish our beaters here in PA could look like that . . . Have fun with your new Sol!

Looks like the overflow tank has a light red coat on it ? Was the car in a accident or just repainted ?

I believe thats just a reflection from the red paint, b/c the airbox looks a little misted with red and so does the a/c condenser tubing. Or its just a reallly bad repaint job. Other than that nice car, clean engine bay and body.

looks good, the noise is probably a throw out bearing in the clutch, a new clutch or swap will fix that

that car is definately a repaint. look at the mirrors, at the base is a rubber bushing/seal thing. it is originally black.

nice car nonetheless i agree with the seats, if you want to sell those ugly things to me, pm me

that "rubbing" noise might be the start of the throwout bearing going bad. Trust me, it will get sooooooo much louder and more annoying than it is now if it is the throwout bearing.. When i bought my car it had 145k miles on the engine, and the throwout bearing was shot to hell and super loud when i was in neutral and the clutch was up.

Nice car though. For 3,000 bucs that's one hellava good deal.

my del sol was only $1500!!!!!! its not as shiny and new looking as yours, plus it has more miles and is automatic. i can fix all that though.
