PCV valve question....
My GF's 96 civic LX was stalling and had a low idle, and the mechanic she took it to didn't change the PCV valve but something else she couldn't read, and she said the paper said that he adjusted the timing.
This doesn't sound right, the timing wouldn't change by itself unless the distributor was removed, right?
So my question is, on a stock honda PCV valve, if you pinch the hose, on a good PCV valve will it still make noise? I read a thread earlier that since it is spring loaded it won't.
Also, which hose do you pinch? The one coming out from the left side top of the valve cover, or the one that connects to the actual PCV valve and comes through the hole in the IM?
Thanks.

ive always just taken the pcv valve off, then shake it.
if you hear a rattle when you shake it, then it is good. if it doesnt rattle then its clogged up and needs replacement

Totally wrong. The stock Honda PCV valve for my '92 civic DOESN'T rattle while a 3rd party one does rattle. If you haven't replaced it in over a hear, I'd just replace it.

correct, or the even better way to do it if you dont mind allittle dirt is see if you can blow air through it one way, and not the other direction. remember its basically just a one way valve
