Well.. I need to know if this is a PCV. My car idles weird so I tried pinching the hose that connect my IM to this thing and then from there to the Charcoal Canister.

looks like it could be an aftermarket pcv valve. Its not the correct one for your vehicle.

#6 in this picture is what you should have.

So what's #12? I'll be honest, the thing I have here looks like it does nothing. You can see right through it.

Is #12 just a clamp?

the first pic is not the charcoal canister, the second one has it but that is the routing for the fuel system. BTW where are you guys gettin these pics from?

If its a pcv valve, you should only be able to blow through it one way.

I really need a picture of someones B16a2 IM and the hose that comes off the top and where it leads to...also where the pcv goes. I need a real picture. I'll try to find one but if anyone could post one that would help.

It should be the same as the one in this diagram....the hose is #5 and pcv is #6 and is plug into the other hose with #4

BTW autozone or pepboys should have plenty of replacement pcv for like $2-3.00
They are the same design too!!

Yeah I went to a parts store and found the right angle shaped one for my engine. The problem is that I think whoever swaped my engine might have just thrown these hoses together in no particular order.

you bought your car like that, with the swap and everything??
look like they try to cut some funds and went the cheap route by putting the shity plug in there.

Jesus, all these replies and still not the right answer. The first post shows a filter (I believe its a filter) for the purge control system. Its for an OBD-2 engine and is NOT your PCV valve. clear?

I want to know if the blue and yellow lines are going where they are supposed to go. The blue line is going from the canister to the thing I posted a picture of in my original post. The yellow line is connected from the canister on the part labeled PCV and it goes to the thing I circled. I have a good feeling its all messed up.

that piece goes between the cannister and the purge control solenoid.

your car dies because the valve might be open all the time, purging the fume.

i have b16a2 in my crx. I just took the complete evap system out.

PCV valve should be like inbetween the intake runners if i am not corect 0_o u need to replace that after testing it wit a vacume gauge. it vents out fuel and water that is in the oil!!!!!

Where did you dig up this info? You do not test a PCV valve with a vac. gauge. You test it by removing it and shaking it. If it rattles, then its still good. If it doesn't rattle then it is plugged and needs to be replaced.

It also does NOT vent "fuel and water" thats in the oil. Its purpose is to vent vapors created in the crankcase during the combustion process. It allows them to be redirected back into the intake manifold to be burned again. Its for emissions.

Please get your info at least HALF correct before you post false and misleading statements. Thats certainly something we don't need more of around this place.

If the purge valve was open, I suppose it could cause the car to die at idle from running excessivly rich, but I would think that would take a little more then the "vapors" in the canister. It will cause high emissions readings though.
