I think he may have been implying that race cars are typically stripped of all weight that is not essential to the cars operation, including sound deadening tar. It can be assumed that this item is meant to be installed with the tar removed...like the race cars it was "proven" in.

Looks like anodized aluminum. I think he was asking about the sound deadening because this item bolts to the floor and I think the tar will make it sit uneven. I would think anyone would prefer to have it sit as flush with the floor as possible since your feet are moving around so much down there, wouldn't want your heel getting caught on an edge every time your shift.

Re: PasswordJDM Race-proven floor plate
Exactly... TO some people it's important to shed ALL extra weight...if so, then hey...your car, your perogative.
But I pers. don't see the point in a DD and even in track applications it seems like the end doesn't justify the means. (in my opinion only, that is)
I guess it all boils down to personnal pref.
edit: obviously I am just talking about removing the tar here...I can understand the benefits of removing the seats, door panels, AC components, and crusie etc.
It reduces the weight of the car. Less weight = less effort on the engine = better acceleration etc and lower track times depending on how much weight has been taken out.

I think it props your feet up higher, and gives you a flat even place to put your feet, as opposed to the uneven dips & bumps of the stock floor. Also for the "bling" factor, that apparently some people want. Seems like a waste of money to me, especially for $150.
