Passenger Side Axle Keeps Popping Out
So, my buddy had an EG that blew a tire and smacked a curb. The car was basically mangled on the front Passenger side. We pulled the GSR from the eg, and picked up an EK shell for around $800 bucks. Good deal, so we thought. After swapping the engine, we found a crack on the rear of the trans, but the car drove fine for about 15-20 miles before the axle came out. Pulled the axle to find the boot all shredded, and tiny metal flakes around the spline. Here, we're thinking- Bad Tranny, especially because of the crack in it, and thinking that because of the impact, it may have destroyed the diff.
Ready for the kicker?
I took a trip over to Noyan, in VA to purchase another tranny. JDM LS is what we got, threw it in the back of my civic, and I installed it last Saturday, took me about 8 hours on my own, average time I'm guessing. Car drove fine just around the neighborhood. As soon as we get on the highway, at an average 60mph, and about 15 miles later, there goes the axle again.
Now, looking at the shell, there had been some previous passenger side damage, and there looks to be some pinching around the shock tower and various areas in sheet metal. Lower control arm is ok, and so are the rest of the suspension parts. Could frame damage be an issue? All engine mounts line up fine. Just cant figure out why it keeps "Popping Out"

Re: Passenger Side Axle Keeps Popping Out
it sounds like you know what youre doing, and im pretty sure you've done this, but man, you gotta really SLAM those axles into place...i drove around for about a year with an axle not properly seated and it finally popped out like a month ago...
so i guess im saying is make sure you are getting the axle seated correctly...im assuming you replaced the axle at least once already..if not,try that too

Re: Passenger Side Axle Keeps Popping Out
Axle has been replaced. This last time, we tapped it in with a small sledge, and it was ok, but we haven't driven it since. I guess i just wanted a little security before another attempt.

double check to make sure that on the end of the axle there is that C clip or whatever its called. that metal ring helps lock the axle in place. thats why their sometimes a bitch to get axles out.
