paint settle time
i just got a fender painted (sprayed this morning) as a present from my wife but the painter told her not to put it on yet so the paint could settle. but she forogt to ask how long the wait was until i could put it on. so how long does it usually take for the paint to settle?

Re: paint settle time (carboncivic)
temp outside is pretty low around 30 but the fender is setting in my living room at 73-75 degrees. was wondering if it would be ready by tomorrow night...???

Re: paint settle time (bow tie)
I WOULD let it sit in your living room for a good two days, it probablly could go on tomorrow night, but dont take the chance, its easier to wait the extra time then waiting for the shop to repaint it again

I'd never buff a replacement painted fender. Cars have factory orange peel. If you buff just the fender, then you'll have one panel that doesn't match in texture.

Re: (bow tie)
put the thing on, chances are the fender got baked after it was painted, and being that we put parts on right after they cool down from the booth at work it has probably been good to go on for about a day already.
