P28 running a B16A, bad throttle response?
I was told my stock P28 would run my B16A swap temporarily until I get it chipped, but I'm getting a HORRIBLE throttle response.. it lags pretty bad on revs and wants to stall once the revs go back to idle. Is this a result of the stock P28 basemap?
I was thinking it may be timing, but it idles perfectly.. it purs at 1k RPM, so I figured cam timing is good.
I'm also keeping my jumper in to read ECU codes, and I'm getting a solid CEL. Is that normal?
My TPS and MAP sensor worked fine with my stock motor, so i'm ruling those out as a possibility as well. Thanks for any suggestions and/or help.

OH, and I don't have an oil pressure sender (the sensor that controls the oil light in the cluster) hooked up, could this throw an OBD1 ecu into limp mode (safe mode)? would that cause a laggy throttle?

Dude a solid CEL is bad ECU! You need to replace it or have it chipped asap! And of course its going to have bad Throttle response your running single cam maps on a twin cam.Change ecu or chip it

Hmmm, if the ecu was bad it wouldn't run the car, am i right? it was running my car before the swap..

Not necessarily. It runs the car apparently, but not that well. It ran fine with the other motor because it was designed to. Your's more than likely is running like crap because like mortificationrock said, you are running a DOHC with a SOHC ecu. Completely different fuel maps Also, there may be different things that ecu may or may not be looking for (ie knock sensor, not specifically, but an example) that the new engine may or may not have.

it will still run your car but not very smooth.. u need a p30 ecu or have the p28 chipped.

there was a leak in the intake manifold, thanks guys, also a solid CEL when the jumper is in means there are no codes..
I can't wait to get my turbo kit on and boost 1.5 bar :D

yea after i plugged the intake manifold leak my idle dropped to 700 rpm, i still have a little lag in my acceleration but i think that is from the stock p28
