P1298 code pulled
So I recently encountered a rather large amount of issues with my '97 EX coupe I'm assuming are all cause by this P1298 code.
Symptoms include:
-Speedometer not working, with occasional sporadic spikes that jump all over.
-Multiple hesitations and "lags" while driving, better explanation while driving I keep my foot steady but it sometimes feels like the motor is being hesitant then will suddenly feel like it's "loosened up" and feels normal and steady.
-Lights inside, namely on the dash, seem to pulse and flicker but in a steady rhythm.
-When started up the car seems to idle rather high, near 1100rpms but after any gas is applied and the car is left to idle again it drops and bounces slowly between 700 and 400-450.
So I did do some looking up and so far the only thing that sounds like it could be the issue is the #15 fuse popping due to the wiring harness underneath the Intake manifold becoming exposed and shorting against the brace. However I did check my #15 fuse as well as a few other fuses and they all seemed to be fine at a first glance. I will double check them but as far as I could tell none of them have popped.
In addition to this code I did receive a P0113 IAT high input code and P0500 VSS malfunction code.
So I'm wondering what the first thing to check should be other than the fuses again and harness or at least if there are other areas of the harness I should check?

Did take the car by Autozone today to see if they have any ideas and the only thing they think might be the issue is the TPS.

Re: P1298 code pulled
That was a video I originally looked at but from what I had read the 96-98 didn't have an ELD.
That being said I decided to take another look just now and of course whether it be my own stupidity or the car playing tricks on me... #15 did pop. Replaced it with one of the spares and then drove it around the block and of course everything was back to normal-ish.

Re: P1298 code pulled
So the fuse popped again while driving to work, symptoms aren't as bad but my speedo did go out and interior lights flicker. Going to pull the intake mani today if I can't get to it from under the car and see if I can find the issue wires and get them fixed up.

So if all goes well and after I pick up the fuse everything should be to the way it was before these issues popped up.

What does the code mean exactly?
After replacing the blown fuse, you state your car ran normal-ish. What was still out of wack?
What does fuse 15 power?

Re: P1298 code pulled
I was going to try to take pictures however I wasn't really able to get under the car or get behind the IM enough to check the wires so as a temp I pulled the harness up away from the support bracket and am waiting to replace the fuse tomorrow morning. Reason for it being a temp fix is I want to be sure that is the main area of concern before I try to pull anything apart and waste time I don't really have currently.

Re: P1298 code pulled
Well the quick fix didn't really fix anything so it looks like I'll be spending all of Thurs getting the IM off the head, checking and fixing the harness and then cross my fingers that it gets fixed.
Might make a "How-To fix" thread or posting.
