Default Overheating EG 100 Degree's Plus Outside : (

I recently bought a 94 Civic Coupe, at first the fan did not turn on after the car warmed up. I wired it to a switch, let the car warm up for twenty minutes and seemed fan. After that I drove my car down the block and it immediatly started overheating.

Now, the day I found out the car fan wasnt working was when I saw white smoke coming out the engine bay (Cluster Temp Needle Broken).

I also noticed a sizzling noise from the radiator cap after the car was turned off.

What can it be ?

Rad. Cap?
White Smoke = Headgasket no?
Thermostat?

Anyway way to test?

do you have enough coolant in the motor, your thermostat might not be opening

Update :

Changed Thermostat and Gasket from Kragen Autoparts ... took longer to overheat

Fan is on

Noticed that Upper hose is hotter than lower

Changed cap .... still overheated

Checked oil and it is normal.

----------------------------

Hear like this szzzzzz noise coming from the rad. cap and sounds like by the engine .. where the dipstick is .. .to the far left????

Left cap of car to air out bubbles and ... smoke started coming out of the radiator .. white smoke. Had heater on too........

ANYONE?

You really need to use OEM parts on this one. Aftermarket caps and thermostats don't work too good at all, they sometimes come fucked from factory.

Do an entire overhaul.

Get yourself:

OEM thermostat
OEM radiator cap
OEM water pump

Change upper and lower hoses as well.

Bleed system properly and off you go.

BTW, DEFINITELY look into fixing your fan to come on when it's supposed to. Check if the wiring, fan, or thermoswitch is shot.

Have you checked if there's any restriction in your hoses? Do a complete changeover. Flush the block out. Flush the radiator. Replace.
