ok to run +40mm offset on one side and +42 on other?
I am wondering if it would be bad to have +40mm 16x7 rims on drivers side and +42mm 16x7 rims on passenger side.
The reason is I have 2 +40mm rims with curb damage, one is pretty bad & The rims are out of production. I found 2 kinda similar looking rims (but not exactly the same) that are +42mm.
So if they are on different sides of the civic it wont really be noticible
will having +2mm more offset on one side of the car do any harm?

run them staggered front to back not side to side<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by SloCivicHMM »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">run the 42's in the back and the 40's in the front...</TD></TR></TABLE>

2 rims are +42 and the other 2 are +40. they are slightly different design which will be noticible if they are not on the same side, thats why 2 +40mm must be on the driver side and 2 +42mm must be on the pass. side.
i mean 2 mm is not much difference at all, it will not be noticible or look like its leaning to one side. I am just concerned about alignment or steering issues.
any thoughts?

having more "track" to one side and not the other will make handling weird....good for oval tracks but not for daily driving etc etc...it will throw off the balance of the entire car....

Why would you want the larger offset to be on one side? Explain that... It makes absolutely no sense. I think not only would it look wierd but it would make your car handle like ****. I would stagger it front to back or buy some new wheels (a set of 4). Are all 4 tires the same brand/size etc? If not that can cause unfavorable handling at higher speeds. If you want try it, I know I wouldn't. Happy Tuning!!!

Jesus, I've been up for 48 hours and even I understood he was explaining that the wheels would track different on one side from having the like offset wheels on the same side, he wasn't telling him to do it.

ok I have a remedy... tell me if this is genius or what
Since they dont make 2mm spacers (that I can find), I will run 5mm spacers on the +42mm side and +3mm spacers on the +40mm side for a total of +37mm all the way around!
5mm spacers arent too thick for use on factory studs are they?

You should be ok, general rule of thumb is as long as you have a solid three threads on each lug you're ok, five mm should leave you with a little more than that.
