Oil Pan Fitment.
i just swapped a new motor in my civ. and had to mix and match some isht to make it work.
its a Z6 block with a Y7 pump oil pump.
the oilpan ive got on there doesnt bolt up right so its leaking a little bit of oil out of one of the corners.
anyone know what oil pan would fit properly?

from what i understand
not all D series oil pans work together.
example, a d15b7 oil pan wont go on a d16z6

Re: Oil Pan Fitment.
right now it has a Z oil pan on it which would make sense since the block is a Z16...
all the holes line up except for the ones in the corner. (Driver side, closest to cabin)
theres about 3 bolts holes that dont line up.
i can take pics if itll help you guys out.
anyone know if a Y oilpan will fit the Z block?

I don't see why a y7 oil pump would interfere with using a Z6 pan. Is the pan hanging up on it somewhere? Shot in the dark, but what oil pickup are you using?

if its a z6 block, with a z6 oil pan and the oilpan doesnt fit on the side the oil pump is on.
i would have to guess the y7 oil pump is at fault (the oil pump does have a couple holes/studs built in for the oil pan to bolt too.
still, pictures would help

Re: Oil Pan Fitment.
Wait a minute... it's a Z6 block, and a Z6 oilpan doesn't fit? Something doesn't add up here. There's no reason that the boltholes wouldn't line up between a Z6 block and Z6 pan. Pics?

so basically everything is from a z6...besides the y7 oil pump.
like 92ehatch said, the oil pump seems like its fking it up.

Re: Oil Pan Fitment.
if the oil pump was messing it up, it shouldnt mess up the bolts all the way around the back of the pan.
are you SURE this is a z6 pan, or did you buy it and they said it was a z6 pan
if it is, an option would be to drill new holes in the pan to match the block, or drill and tap new holes in the block to match the pan.
the better of those two options would be drill the pan.

Re: Oil Pan Fitment.
wait a minute....
why does your z6 block have the crank sensor on it?
and the y series mounts/brackets?
are you sure this is a z6 block?
what model/year car do you have?

Re: Oil Pan Fitment.
this is my z6 block, the back half (the half you posted)
i measured the distance between the edge of the block, where the oil pump meets the block, to the first hole, and the next hole, and following stud. this is the distances

Re: Oil Pan Fitment.
alright im new to the honda scene so this isht is confusing as fck to me, so bare with me.
the car is a 97 civic dx coupe.
when i bought it, it had D16Y7.
that motor was blown up 2 owners before me and rebuilt.
when we took it apart we found a bunch of huge metal chunk still in the oilpan and pickup .
then we put a D16Z6 i got from one of my buddys in there for free.
we had to take some isht off the y7 and put it on the z6 since it isnt exactly the same.
(i have 2 oil dipsticks now. hahaha)
hope that helps...

Re: Oil Pan Fitment.
ok that clarifies alot
you had to use the y7 pump in order to meet obd 2 requirements.
now, take the measurments i gave you, and measure the distances on your oil pan bolts, from where i marked down.
if the holes in the pan are not the same distances that i wrote down, then you do not have a z6 pan.
if they are the same distances, then something on the block is different
