oil is at ok level but dark..ok or not?
i checked oil when i bought my car and it was between the two lines but was dirty looking (dark). ok or not?

dirty oil is fine. its suppose to look that way. that means that the oil is doing its job keeping your motor clean.

i personally think that if the oil is dark...almost dark brown/black.....definately change it. But if its a dark brown, and you can still see threw it, then like what the others have said, your oil is doing its job

I'm assuming you just bought a 93 civic (in your signature). I would change the oil...it's only $15.

i would always change the oil when buying a used car. you don't want to begin guessing what the previous guy "probably" did. like someone said, it's $15, get it done.

having dark oil .. is'nt a HORRIBLE thing, but it's a bad thing.
When you have dark oil, it means there is a lot of carbon embedded in the oil (additional carbon), which in turn increases the friction that impacts ur engine through the oil.
I'm sure you're not gonna have an engine exploding any time soon , but still, it's better to be safe than sorry.
