oil lines ran for y7/y8 mini me?
okay guys, first off, please don't flame me! i HAVE done my research and what not, and read several write ups on the y7/y8 mini me, but i still have a few questions/concerns.
Note: this is my first d-series project.
(i had a eg with a b18b)
i have a 97 dx hatch.
1st question: after talking to my friend, he said that i would have to run oil to the y8 head? i thought and from what i've read, the y7 block is the same exact thing as the y8? he made it sound almost like a ls/vtec swap. is this true?
2nd Question: he also said that the y8 motor was the economy motor and i would be wasting my time swapping heads? comparing the money spent to power gained.
3rd question: I'm on a pretty small budget ( i know not good) but from what ive researched i NEED a y8 head, y8 intake manifold, p28 ecu, i want obd1 so i can ubertune, vtec solinoid, and....???
4th question: WHAT TIMING BELT DO YOU USE?! people have said different things in every single post?!

if you would've done your research you would've found bauleycivic's mini-mi write-up and it states that you have to remove the rubber plug in the block so it will flow the oil up through the block and into the head as for the belt I belive all timing belts are the same for the y series so it doesn't matter which one you use.

yeah, i saw his write up... but that just seemed like that little hole is pretty small to flow oil through the entire head. and as for the belts i believe there is one that has like 103 teeth and one that has 104... something confusing.

yeah just use the y8 timing belt but it's the same as the y5,y7, and y8, the ones that are different are the z series. I would levae the car obd2 just while your swapping the head and get everything working, make sure it runs, no cel's then convert it to obd1. If you try to do it all together at once it could run in to a lot of problems that can get very complicated.
