well if you "gurus" actually knew something instead of spouting off at the mouth, you would know there are some aftermarket wheels that require a conical lug nut shaped like so \_/ instead of the much flatter (but still not flat) oem lug nut. not that i know of many besides race wheels, but the question still isn't invalid.
jesus, when did this turn into a bashing forum? the op probably just spent a nice chunk of change on expensive wheels and you bash him up for trying to make sure hes installing them right?

No you do not need after market lug nuts, main difference is that after market lugs are longer to avoid scratching the wheel, and usually made of different materials. -ejoner.

anyway, while everyone else goes crazy... OE lug nuts for civics are somewhat spherical, CB7 accords with alloys are almost conical. i have seen many aftermarket wheels use OE fasteners and be fine. one thing that makes a big difference though is the hub ring that helps to center wheels with bigger hub openings. the lugs don't always center the wheels well enough on their own.
the best person to ask really would be someone who sells wheels. they may recommend a set of nuts for certain wheels. i am not familiar with many aftermarket wheels myself, so i can't tell you if your volks will be fine or not.

not that anyone would do this, but mag wheels require non-oem lugs. so to the two people who decided to bash the OP, try being helpful instead of hurtful. some people are just trying to follow the "better safe than sorry" route. there is nothing wrong with that. but then again, you two are probably the kind of people who go head first into a project without thinking it out.
