Default ODBI vs ODBII

I know OBDII engines basically has an additional O2 sensor behind the cat and a crank fluctuation sensor located near the oil pump. I know mixing the 2 is not good. If wiring is not done right then you will have endless wiring problems and check engine lights.

If you have an EK(uses OBDII) you have to swap in OBDII complient components(ie engine's,tranny, ecu etc.) right...? If you have an EG(OBDI) you can use either OBDI or OBDII components(ie engine's, trannys, ecu etc.)...? Am I understanding this correctly...?

Yes, you can mix OBD parts, but you may have problems with connectors and such. I know the distributor on the OBD 1 models are different, and I think some things may also be different like the speed sensor.

I'm pretty sure the trannys are easily interchanged

Tranny's are interchangable so long as you stay within the engine designation... D series tranny for d series engine, B series tranny for B series engine, you get the idea...

we are thinking in terms of electical stuff though...yes it will bolt up, but will it throw a code...basically from my understanding...anything will work, it may take some rewiring though.

You could prolly mix and match sensors, connectors, values among other things may be different and a certain component may not be compatible..
Also remember that OBDII has a new array of sensors that don't even exsist with OBDI..
