Default OBD2 P28 question

My buddy and I just swapped a b16a out of a 97-OBD2A del sol into his 99-OBD2B automatic EX. We used the wiring harness and ECU from the Auto EX. It runs fine with the Auto EX ECU except for the redline and one engine code for the auto tranny which isn't there anymore. We ordered a OBD2 P28 will that ECU work on our current setup or will we have to rewire stuff?? Thanks

I believe if you use the rigth Manual Ecu it should help that problem. Your auto Ecu is looking for the Auto trans.

that would be a great use for an OBD2a P28.
yes it would work.

the donor car didn't have an ECU??
(it should have the OBD2a P28 or OBD2a P30)

The donor car came with the obd2a p30, but when we plugged it in the engine would turn over but would never start. We were all like WTF so we just plugged in his AUTO EX ecu and it started right up. But it sucks because of the lower redline, cel and stuff. So we were looking at a OBD2 p28 to solve the problems. We already paid for the ECU when I thought to myself "**** I don't know if it's a OBD2a or OBD2b". I just wasn't sure if it would work with the OBD2B wiring harness from the 99ex.

From what I've heard you can use the obd2 p30 but you have to get the jumper harness for your ecu. But if you want to be able to tune your car you might as well switch over to obd1 and throw in a p28 and run Hondata, Chrome, or uberdata. Plus I think it might be easier trying to find a p28 rather than a obd1 p30. If you do do this the part number you would need is 201-05-0130, that's the part you should need made by skunk2.

I've contacted the seller and it's a OBD2A does that mean we're going to have to rewire the plug going into the ECU to make the harness from the OBD2B 99EX work??

yes, OBD2a and OBD2b are different. either re-wire the connectors or pick up a conversion harness.

BTW this is also why the P30 didn't work initially.... it's OBD2a.
