OBD2 B16 Swap into 97 Hatch
Ok, so I've ordered an obd2 b16 for my car and I know it would be easiest to get a Civic EX engines wire harness. My question is if there is a difference in wireharness between a 96-98 civic EX and a 99-00 civic EX harness. I know that the 99-00 Si harness has a different style connector then the regular EX's so i was wondering if the 99-00 EX had the same style as the SI.
Thanks for everyones input.

I guess the real question is if the 99-00 EX harness is OBD2.5 like how the Si harness is? Or are the harness from 96-00 Ex's all the same.

if you have a 97, use the 97 harness. it is wat too troublesome and time consuming to make the obd2 gen 2 work. i have tried it before. too many wire differences. the last swap i did was a 96 Lx. used the Lx harness. it is possible it isnt hard. but the 97 Ex harness is the easiest way to go. you will have to omit 1 wire on the CKF. match the 2 that are there and cut and insulate the one not used. you have to lengthen a few wires.

u can use ur stock harness (the one u have now)
and modify it (run vtec wire, extend o2,etc.)
besides its not the easiest thing locating a 96-98 wiring harness
and yes 99-00 harness is different (i found out the hard way )

um a 97 ex harness is 250 new from the dealer.
and on a dx you need to swap 2 wires. cant remember em. i think it is A12 and A14. cant remember that. and there is alot of lengthening.

use a 97 ex wiring harness or just wire up the o2 and vtec solenoid and vtec pressure switch.
im not too sure if you bought an american spec motor or japan...but if you have the us spec then wire up the knock sensor. if that helps out at all......
