obd1 gsr - hooking up vtec help
ok i just swapped my 95 GSR motor into my 93 civic and my vtec selinoid that came with the motor is incomplete... the selinoid that is next to the distributor is missing a plug i believe. the green plug is missing something to plug into.... there is a small hole with nothing in it, no threads or anything, just a depression in the selenoid. on my friends obd2 gsr there is something screwed into that little hole some how... if anyone knows what this is called that i need or have pictures of their 94/95 obd1 gsr's so that i could see how its hooked up it would be appreciated... some addt'l info obviously i have no vtec and my ecu is throwing a code 21 - vtec sensor... thats it. thanks.

yes...it is necessary for VTEC to engage. The solenoid I believe is the actual RPM unit that switches from one set of lobes for another...before it activates the VTEC oil pressure switch must detect that the oil pressure in the head is high enough to allow VTEC to activate...it is a necessary part and can be found at your local dealership for about $60 as stated above

JDM GSR motors come with the standard VTEC solenoid setup (Pressure switch is mounted to the solenoid). Only car I know of that does not use an oil pressure switch is the JDM ITR motors because it is ECU controlled I believe...

interesting bc my solenoid looks like theres no way to hook it up, theres a just a depression in the solenoid, does it somehow screw in there?... i know the kid i bought my swap from had mixed up some parts with his friends type-r... does the pressure switch somehow plug or screw into the selenoid or does it just sit there?

ok so i went to honda yesterday and they told me that my vtec solenoid was off of a type-r, maybe jdm... so i just bought a vtec solenoid from a friend with a b16, theyre the same right? only dif i noticed is that the main vtec wire plug is a little different, but nothing a little splicing cant fix.
