Default OBD 1 Chip

Hey folks
I did a quick search and didn't really find exactly what I was looking for.
I am looking to chip my 93 Del Sol ((D16z6) short ram, stage 3 clutch, 8lb flywheel, headers, 2.5" exhaust). (OBD-1, P28 ECU)
I want to reassure myself before I do anything--
Those 15 dollar chips on Ebay with Meugen and Spoon and Skunk 2 stickered on the top, do they really work or are they going to make my engine run lean and die? I'm not really 'gung ho' about uberdata and the like although fascinating im just not ready to deal with it.
What I'm looking for in a chip is Vtec to be engaged as early as possible (4000 rpms id prefer), speed and rev limiter removed and just a better basemap for fuel and ignition timing. What would chip would you guys reccomend without going all out?

I was looking at that before. I think I'll go for that next paycheck. I was looking at his order form and it has a '2 step launch program'. what the heck is that? how does it work?

2 step is a launch control. You have the clutch in and foot all the way down on the gas and it will hit a limiter at whatever rpm you want. 3000 is avg. You release the clutch and the motor will stay at the rev limiter until a certain speed then drive normal.

Preprogrammed chips are the worst. Get a base map and your set.

I have found the two step to be great when getting out in heavy traffic.
