Default O2 Sensor.... usual breakdown

I got a quick question. On a honda civic (2000), what is the normal oxygen sensor breakdown time? 35,000 miles... 50,000... etc.

Just curious, and on the 2000 would anybody know if theres just 2? I see one in the exhaust manifold.... and i believe 1 in the cat or right behind it.... havent gotten a chance to get under there yet.

Thanks.

P.S. Also, I seen a universal (denso) o2, but its no flanged for direct fit.... how hard is the wire up on these? never did it on this car.... is it just a splice and knot deal?

I think ppl say they breakdown at about 75k.

You can buy the direct plug for either o2 sensor. The one before the catalyc convertor is about $49. The one after the catalyc convertor is about $75. Universal about $45.

Denso Universal works well. I use that on my car. The Color of the wires don't match up when splicing the new sensor in, but, Denso will give you a wiring diagram, anti-seize, and butt-connectors.

It is only four wires and is pretty to install. You will need a spark plug wrench or you can use a 21mm wrench to remove sensor

denso sounds good, as far as breakdown.. i would say it depends a lot on the owner, you driving the car hard, any mods that might stress the o2 sensor, header, cam, nos, etc...

i'll give denso a

No real bolt-ons on this thing at all. Just a standard after market intake and exhaust, NGK wires and plat. plugs. and a additional MSD coil blaster, and a basic strut tower brace.

But i do drive ALOT. My commuter to and from school and work. I would say i drive roughly 25K a year.

Car has roughly 54K on it now. Driving it 2 years straight with standard maintanance. But the car is now almot 5 years old. Got it from someone who drove this thing MAYBE 8K a year 2 years back.

But, one other thing that sparked my interest in changing it... i failed emissions last year .. put it through again with out the filter and it JUST passed marginally. I thought it was just the plugs, wires and air filter needing to be changed.

But now the car is showing hard idle signs, driveability kinda sux... feelsl ike the car is holding back on me... and from just smell observation at times it smells lean. Strange.
