Well This is not often I need help but this one got me. I know alot of you guys are gods with honda wring so here we go.

-Everything Was Fine (1998 Honda Civic)
-Parked car for a week to remove dash
-After replacing Dash, Airbags, ECU, and ABS COntrol module, I have ABS Light
-Had An SRS light to but I reset that with a paperclip and all was good, as I forgot to undo battery before unplugging (oops)
-Tried resetting the ABS system, nothing happend. Tried to get trouble codes, light just stays on steady no code.
IM FREAKIN OUT HERE

I want to add the following info about my problem.
As per the helms manual I tried resetting the abs computer, paper clip in service connector, brake pedal pressed, turn key to on... but the light is suppose to turn off. Mine does not.
No toruble codes either... just stays on.
I think the ABS controler is fried. WHat do you think?

i can definately help, but need more info. what year, model, etc. and when you crank your car does the light come on go off for a second then come right back on, or not go off at all, not even a millisecond??? if its a constant light its an open curcuit. start by checking EVERY fuse, not just abs or brake related. also, a little more background, like why everything was replaced, etc...

The light comes on in II spot and stays on during cranking and stays on when running. its a 1998 Civic LX. Nothing was replaced I was drilling out the A-pillar. I his the mail ECU/ABS harness with the bit and cut a few wires. I fixed them and and checked them all (pain in the ***) but i think these actions may have fried something. Everythitng is plugged back in

You seem to know your stuff, but how did you go about fixing the spliced wires, just to make sure.

most likely just blew the fuse to the EBCM or electronic brake control module. its just like letting the radio 12v wire hit ground, it blows the fuse. check them all, as sometimes, not sure on the civics, an assesory fuse will be backup power to the EBCM. example, 99 dodge ram 1500 ebcm 12v switched is powered by the 30amp radio fuse. i know because i spend half a day tearing the dash apart tracing an open curcuit. after everything checked out and i scratched my head i started checking the basics again, and after that threw a few tools, LOL. if thats not it let me know.

I checked the cut wires, there were 5, solder and heatshrink. But the ABS computer was plugged in and the batt. was connected (not the smartest thing ive done)
But I also ran the car with the ABS computer inplugged, my thought was it needed to be reset. But I tried that

abs system is adaptive, and will clear any soft codes itself. the thing is when you get a solid light that doesnt go out for even a milisecond means you have an open curcuit, usually meaning the fuse is bad. trust me the fuse will blow before the ebcm is hurt.

try a abs unit from another car, you know anyone with 96-98 ex civic

yeah umm, its not exactly the easiest thing in the world to just swap. you have special procedures for bleeding the unit and stuff, so thats not really logical.

No your right I has talking about the "brain" thats bolted to the ECU. But anyhow im gonna check every fuse and then I will go from there. Where I live we have long cold icy winters and ABS would be nice. I just hope I didnt criple it for life.

How do you reset the ABS "brain"? Like where is it at on a 1992-1995.

Its not all in one. There is an ABS controller bolted to the ecu

im not talking the ecu. im talking about the abs valvebody under the hood. see the electrical plugs on it. unless the civic is differant than the accord ABS wise. either way, its not easy to just swap it out of another car, have you checked the fuses yet??

Lol, no tomorrow I will get back to you, the valvebody has only a couple wires on her and the ecu has an "ABS Unit" bolted to it with 2 orange plugs.
I will check fuses and get back to ya

I'm talking about the ABS controler, there is a computer just for abs, its bolted to the top of the ENGINE ECU

yeah, thats the ebcm, i thought you meant the abs valve assembly. i have seen one EBCM bad in my career, and it was a GM car. still a possiblity that its the problem though.

I checked every damn fuse in that car today.

You have fried the ABS brain probably when you had voltage and were splicing wires.

If you have checked all fuses, and done the reset and none of that works then that is the only viable option.
