Not another fluctuating idle thread... UPDATE PLEASE READ.
Ok I read all 2 million searched threads relating to this and tried all that applied to my application.
My application is a 2000 si b16a2 into a 93 civic with a chipped ECU.
The car ran fine before removing motor to do a rhd swap.
The timing is right.
The IACV is clean
No CELS
No vac leaks
not the throttle cable
Throttle body is clean
Have no FITV
Coolant system bled.
New gaskets
Tried all the suggested adjustments to get nowhere.
Compression is fine.
What did I miss?

you got a chiped ecu, Hmmm, which chip are you using, or do you have a custom chip? cant expect much from the egay chips. i had simillar problems, was the chip. good luck, its the ***** havin this problem.

Well I got no CELS....I unplug em and I get CELS.
I did reset the ecu and started it back up and it was not wandering no where near as much but now it is choppy a bit. I will ret again tomorrow.

Ok I think resetting the ecu did the trick......It seems to run ok now with the exception of it dies if I tap the throttle....Would seem to me that this is in the adjustment.

Well damn it I thought I had it wooped.......
Still got the surge.
I thought it had stopped but nope.
I have double check everything I can think of.
I did notice one of the injectors had a dif color marking on it.
3 of them have what looks to be white and one had blue on it.
Does anyone know the color coding?
I have a b16a....what color should be on the injectors?

From what it looks like, you know your stuff, but check the actual wiring to the various sensors. I have never done a RHD swap, but it seems as if there is a great deal of wiring to be done, therefore it may be a "short," for lack of a better description.

Well I got to looking at the wiring and found that the D3 wire from the ecu is not hooked up to anything.
Can someone comfirm the knock sensor has only 1 wire going to it and if at all possible toss up a pic of the sensor on the block.
I was under the impression that if you chipped the ecu that this swap did not require a knock sensor.
I don't really see the knock sensor making the idle fluctuate unless it's getting false readings...But again no cels.

D3 is knock sensor. I would think that it should be hooked up regardless of the chip. Check A9 as well.

I have the same problem it seems so common in these cars, my friends sister has a stock civic and hers does it... It personally doesnt bother me but if there is a solution im up for it

Im sure you haven't tried EVERYTHING...
Did you check your coolant level? If your coolant has air in the system, the idle with surge as well... try topping that off and bleeding it.
Did you check for a vaccum leak between the throttle body and the intake manifold? How about the intake manifold and the head? A bad gasket can cause this too.
I actually fixed mine by doing the coolant thing, and re-adjusting the idle screw on the throttle body. I have also had this happen due to a bad TPS sensor.
Did you check your coolant level? If your coolant has air in the system, the idle with surge as well... try topping that off and bleeding it.
Did you check for a vaccum leak between the throttle body and the intake manifold? How about the intake manifold and the head? A bad gasket can cause this too.
I actually fixed mine by doing the coolant thing, and re-adjusting the idle screw on the throttle body. I have also had this happen due to a bad TPS sensor.

How bad is it fluctuating? I had a surging problem a few years ago that drove me nuts. I would get the code for the IACV. I replaced it, but it didn't fix the problem. Turns out that the charcoal cannister was bad. I put a rubber cap on the line going from the throttle body to the cannister and never had that problem again.

Before I sold my Jetta, the charcoal canister set off the check engine light, but didn't effect the driving any.
I know this is a Honda Civic thread but on my ford probe has been having same problem, if you consider the fact it has a mazda engine (as do the ford probes) it's not too far off - when I drive it and push in the clutch it idles at jumps and idles are like 2-3k RPMS, then drops and usually stalls...the wires of hte O2 sensor were melted together, and I replaced the plug, it worked fine for like 2 weeks, then it started it's **** again after filling up the gas tank...I've adjusted the throttle too many times, it's not that, the hell else can it be? Not sustaining idle (at 900), when you're driving it sometimes the RPMs don't drop until like 2 - 5 seconds later, it sounds like an O2 sensor !!!!!
