Default Noob questions on b series motors

whats the difference with the JDM and USDM gsr motor?

how much difference in hp and torque?

does the JDM use different parts for maintenance or repairs?

whats the difference with the JDM gsr and JDM ctr?

did you do any research? research buddy. anyways i'll tell you some basics.

jdm motors are stronger than usdm motors. jdm gsr has like 10 more hp than usdm. jdm gsr has higher compression than usdm gsr. the engine code is b18c(same as jdm itr). usdm gsr engine code is b18c1(b18c5 for itr). maintenance is pretty much the same.

K series engines are way overpriced, and I couldn't afford one.

An F/H series doesn't allow the use of AC or power steering in an EG/EK, without fabrication apparently. I have heard that maintainance is a pain due to their size, although I have never had the opportunity to see for myself. For value, power wise, I think the "G23" is the best. K series power at 1/3 the price according to what I have read.

The B seems like a very logical choice for a swap though, at least to me. They aren't the most powerful, but they have potential and power output should be enough for most of us. There seems to be enough room in the engine compartment and if one chooses, AC and power steering can easily be hooked up. The price isn't too bad. Parts and information are abundant.

The D series just gets no love at all. Every month or so I see one for sale on Craigslist under $200. If I was into forced induction, I'd build a turbo D for my car.

You should be the last person to talk about going big and having no idea on what u r getting into. You still playing with the D series engines doing NOOB questions about D series "mini swaps" in ur little ek. If you don't have anything good to give to the OP please contain yourself from posting.

There is no JDM GSR engine. The B18C (non-R) came from the Integra SiR and Si VTEC.

So its:
B18C (non-R) has 10.6:1 compression giving it +10 hp over the USDM motor.
B18C1 (USDM) has 10:1 compression
The parts are the same (pistons are different) so you can use B18C1 parts on your JDM B18C.

whats with the hate on the b's? I'm planning on going ls, b/c I want the torque. Not clowning on the d's, love them, but I wanna try something new. Hell there is a reason they change the engines in newer cars, and not keep them the same. Change is gonna happen, you don't have to hate b/c others don't see your view.
