non type r 5 lug conversion???
okay guys, i was walkin around in the park the other day thinking about car stuff n it juss hit me. is it possible to do a 5-lug 4 wheel disk brake conversion on an EK hatch using CR-V brakes? it juss hit me cuz that's also one of the "brother" cars of the civic and it's a 4 disk 5 lug. has anyone done it? if so, please give some details. it just hit me cuz i really want 4 disk 5-lug but type r brakes are really expensive. maybe this can be an alternative.
comments?

Ive been wanting to do 5lug conversion "Poor Man's 5Lug" forever on my GSR until I found a great deal on a TRUE ITR conversion.
Anyway, here is the list of parts excluding wheels:
1) 97-00 Rear Plelude Hubs from junkyard ~ $50/pair
2) $20x4 discs to redrill your STOCK rotors to 5x114.3
3) $108/piece for NEW ITR hubs from dealership (hookup price)
You will have to grind off some material off the rear spindle/hub to accomodate for your stock Civic/Integra brakes.

Well, not sure, but fronts will probably work. However CR-V's have drums in the rear. Not only that, but they are AWD too - that's why you don't use the transmission on a b20 swap. The rear won't work.

Re: non type r 5 lug conversion??? (Jaminak)
hmm.... i don't know about your CRV rear brakes theory jaminak, cuz i saw them first hand, CRV's have rear disk man! it mite only be certain models of it though. wait, are there even class distinctions with CRV's (ie cx, dx, hx, ex)? but the one i saw definitly had rear disks on there. so c'mon guys.... is it possible? CRV 4 disk 5-lig conversion onto 6th gen ek hatch?

Well MY 98 EX has drum brakes. So, I assume that all 97-01 LXs and EXs have drum. I don't know about the SE though. Maybe you saw a new (02) CR-V? I have no idea on those - and it wouldn't matter anyway as it is a different chassis. But to sum it up, the rear hub has a drive shaft - your civic does not. Even if it were disk it still would not work.

Why are you buying Prelude hubs AND ITR hubs?
Also, is there a reason that you're not buying rotors for a Prelude or ITR to match the hubs over redrilling the stock Civic rotors? Most people may want to upgrade rotors anyhow.
Please fill me in.
Thanks.

Just get the Prelude brakes front and rear.
That works for sure.

No the cr-v brakes wont work. Reason is that the whole knuckle assembly is to tall. I use to work a Honda and i was wanting to do 5 lug on my car. I checked out every possible combination I could think of. Bit no the CR-V will not work. Go to honda and have a print out of the CR-V knuckle assembly and have one from the CIVIC knuckle assembly printed out. It is off by a couple of inches. I am still looking for 5 lug too.

Re: non type r 5 lug conversion??? (Extreme_Hybrid_Hatch)
I have a question for you fellas. Are you looking towards the 5 lug conversion to improve braking performance or just so you have the extra lug ?
Think about couple of things.
A. After gathering all these parts that might or might not work and after product is completed will you be satisfied ?
B. Compare the price of your finished "custom" product and then compare to an ITR 5 lug conversion and then ask yourself if you are truly satisfied ? And then go to
http://www.fastbrakes.com
Don't cut any corners and use what works.

actually, not all CRVs are AWD, theres different models and some are FWD... maybe even RWD i dont know

I'm sure even the non-AWD (FWD, there is no RWD) have the same rear assemblies ... so if one would work, then both would ... or niether.

1st Generation:
1997 LX = LX 4WD, ABS is an option, rear drum brakes
1998-2001 EX = 4WD, rear drum brakes
1998-2001 LX = 2WD or 4WD, rear drum brakes
2000-2001 SE = 4WD, rear drum brakes
2nd Generation:
2002-2004 EX = 4WD, rear disc brakes
2002-2004 LX = 2WD or 4WD, rear disc brakes
That chassis does change, the rear suspension is different.
