Re: noise from the rear (lionhart)
my car has a strange buzzing noise when i drive and it gets louder as i drive.
the mechanic said it was eiher the fuel pump or a rear wheel bearing.
my car still drives so i don't care

Re: noise from the rear (Soulless)
There are a few things it could be. Is your car lowered? If it is have you put camber kits in the rear? If not then the noise you could be hearing is that of the tire. Typically in cars with camber problems the inner edge of the tire gets chopped. When this happens it makes a noise very similar to a bad wheel bearing(not as loud), and obviously it increases with speed.
If it is a wheel bearing there are two easy test you can do. One, when you are driving straight move the car side to side slowly. If the noise goes away when you turn one direction, but gets louder when you turn the opposite direction, then it is a wheel bearing. Two, jack the car up at the rear and wiggle the wheel. If it is loose then it's a wheel bearing.
Good Luck.
