Default no power in early RPM

i have a b16, with a 10lbs flywheel and I have no power from 2k to about 3.5k, and at times, it seems like the car is slowing down, or resisting a power graduation. after 3.5 it starts to pick up heavily.... any ideas?

partly it has to do with the light flywheel.. A lighter flywheel wheel will make your engine move faster with less resistance but at in a higher rpm like 3500 rpms then it will just fly after. but since the wheel doesnt have enough mass to spin the engine at low engine speeds the car will feel like it has not have enough power. because 4 cylinder fires each cylinder at every 180 degrees meaning theres alot of time where no power is being transmited to the flywheel. having the right flywheel weight will help spin the engine at low rpms.

also having low end power can be cause by bad cam timing and /or ignition timing :] ha

Maybe because you have a b16 with a lighten flywheel.

and lighter flywheel will give you more top end power because it will make ur engine spin but you sacrifice low end power.. but if you think about it when you race and you shift at redline your rmps will drop only to 5200-6000 rpms- depending on the tranny- and that is where you peak power starts

Sounds like a timing issue and make sure you spark plugs are properly gapped and not fouled.

no codes, but i'll change the plugs/ cap/ rotor.. they were changed 6 months ago, but the car has only been driven roughly 500 miles since

Check your map sensor as well while diagnosing ignition system.
